That is no advantage, but history ...
two different code bases, two different languages (PL/AS and C),
two (very!) different locations, where the teams reside, that do the development etc. -
AFAIK, the same management since a couple of years. And at least connectable
via DRDA.
Oracle has other problems ... I had very bad experience with Oracle on VM/ESA
(today: z/VM) in the 1990s ... too long a story to be told.
